Burglars fail to beat Liniar ModLok™ Patio doors

Damaged ModLok door after a failed burglary attemptBurglary attempt foiled…

Patio doors are often considered the weakest point of access, but a West Yorkshire fabricator’s faith in the security benefits of the Liniar ModLok™ system has been strengthened even further recently after a failed burglary attempt to force a set open.

GB Windows Halifax Ltd supplied the sliding doors to a builder constructing an extension for a customer – and when the criminals came calling they more than stood up to the test, standing firm against the unlawful effort.

Geoff Benson, Managing Director of GB Windows, explained: “One of our regular customers wanted patio doors for an extension he was building. We only supply the Liniar ModLok™ patio – not just because it looks so stylish but also because of its superior security features.

“The proof is in the pudding. The burglars in this instance, while damaging the exterior uPVC with their assault, completely failed to prise open the doors to gain access.

“Because the ModLok™ patio system combines steel reinforcing with a high-security locking mechanism, utilising four hook bolts plus two shootbolts at the top and bottom of the sliding door, it offers far greater security against burglary attempt than any other product of its type in my opinion.

“Unfortunately for the homeowners, the burglars broke into the property through one of two older windows instead, after giving up on the door.

“The patio door has since been replaced with a brand new one and the old windows have also now been upgraded to Liniar.”

Formed 20 years ago, GB Windows became a Liniar fabricator in 2009, less than a year after the launch of the innovative system. Geoff was so impressed with the design he didn’t hesitate to move over.

“Our company has always been about quality first and foremost. We’re a family business and I’d say that about 95% of our work comes from word of mouth – so quality has to be key.

“Once I saw the Liniar system I knew it was what I wanted to offer to my customers. I was particularly impressed with the sculptured range and the fact that it had six chambers for increased efficiency sealed the deal.

“Now we only manufacture the EnergyPlus range so we can offer our customers the highest possible U-values, which we just couldn’t do with the old system.”

The full package

It’s not just the superior quality of the Liniar system that’s at the root of GB’s continuing success. Geoff’s passion for quality means that he provides his customers with a whole range of services to ensure that homeowners receive nothing but the best.

“We like to provide the personal touch here. I train my customers to install windows and doors in the correct manner, giving guidance to builders so they can fit the products exactly how they should be fitted.View of the ModLok locking system from the edge of the door

“I even talk to my customers’ customers when they’re not sure what they’re looking for so that we can design exactly what they want for their home.

“We’ve never been interested in competing in the ‘rat race’ – we let the quality of our work and how we deal with customers speak for us.”

After 20 years of success and still going from strength to strength, that’s a philosophy that certainly seems to be working for GB Windows.
