SwitchBoard Ultra Decking FAQs
Should I choose timber or composite uPVC decking for my outdoor area?
It all comes down to personal choice! If your installation is near water such as a pond or pool, choosing timber decking could result in rot or decay quite quickly, so uPVC composite deckboards like SwitchBoard Ultra would be a longer-lasting solution. If you'd prefer the ability to paint your deck in different colours each year, you may prefer to choose timber - however be aware that this will be required on a regular basis as decking is exposed to the elements. With a uPVC decking area, you won't need to carry out this back-breaking task... just a simple wash with soapy water will see your SwitchBoard Ultra deckboards looking as good as new.
Which is safer, timber or uPVC decking?
Timber decking can be extremely slippery, especially during the winter months as algae growth combined with wet weather results in slime on the surface of the deckboards. Liniar's uPVC decking systems have been tested for slip resistance and provide traction in both wet and dry conditions, making them safer for all the family. Because they won't rot or corrode, accidents are less likely, and there's no risk of splinters for little fingers with Liniar uPVC deckboards either!
Is it true some uPVC deckboards can fade after exposure to the sun?
Yes - just like timber decking, uPVC decking systems can fade after exposure to the sun, wind and rain - however the time this takes differs greatly across the different deckboards available. Liniar has carefully chosen selected ingredients for SwitchBoard Ultra to protect against fading for as long as possible, which is backed up by our warranty - you should always check this when considering different decking systems.
Does SwitchBoard Ultra look like traditional timber decking?
That depends on the look you're wanting to achieve! For example, choosing the Shale colour and installing it with the grooved side on display will result in a very traditional timber decking appearance - however if you choose Concrete or Iron, on either side, you can achieve a much more contemporary look. SwitchBoard Ultra is extremely versatile, thanks to its dual-sided nature, enabling you to choose different surfaces to suit each individual project or area.
What are the steps to keep my SwitchBoard Ultra decking in good condition?
To maintain Liniar SwitchBoard Ultra decking, regularly clean it with soapy water, avoid harsh chemicals, use furniture pads to prevent scratching and avoid dragging sharp objects.
How scratch resistant is uPVC composite decking?
Just like timber decking, care should be taken when moving sharp items on your deck, to avoid scratching.
Is SwitchBoard Ultra decking safe for bare feet?
With no timber to splinter or rot, SwitchBoard Ultra deckboards are extremely family and barefoot friendly.
However, just like any other outdoor surface such as concrete patio areas, if the sun is hot then please do take care to protect bare feet!
