Liniar’s flagship profile made waves within the industry. It was 2008, the middle of a deep recession.
Liniar pulled together an expert team with over 500 years’ combined experience in the fenestration industry. For the first time in more than a decade, they broke tradition and designed an entirely new window and door profile from scratch – not just making improvements to an existing design.
When the team began the process of designing Liniar’s flagship profile, they researched the pinch points where other profiles had failed. Using this research, they came up with solutions to the flaws they found – and the new Liniar 70mm profile was born. This brand new, innovative profile design still dominates the energy and thermal efficiency ratings nearly two decades later.
The question remains. What makes people continue to choose Liniar’s 70mm profile?
The objectives going into the design of the 70mm profile were combined into achieving not only form and function but also beauty. It needed to have exceptional weatherproofing, deliver unrivalled thermal efficiency and meet the exacting security standard – whilst looking the part at the same time.
Making the new window more cost-effective, for not only fabricators but also the property owner was one of the first things the team addressed in its design. The cost of steel always impacts the cost of fabrication – but Liniar designers didn’t want to sacrifice strength and stability to save costs. The way they achieved this was by reducing the amount of steel reinforcement required in Liniar’s new window by 2/3 while maintaining the strength through a multi-chambered design and revolutionary security strip. The results make Liniar’s window easy to fabricate and fit, cutting down on installation time whilst still achieving Window Energy Ratings (WERs) of up to A++ and U-values as low as 0.9 W/m²K.
Liniar’s forward-thinking design team revolutionised the way profiles were extruded by patenting a co-extruded bubble gasket, providing not only an airtight sea against the weather and leading energy efficiency ratings but also a quick and easy installation. The co-extruded bubble gasket is fabricated straight into the profile and has been tested to BFRC energy rating standards with zero air leakage. This means no messy seals to fit during or after fabrication and no call-backs as a result of draughty or whistling windows.
UK-first products are ingrained into the ethos of Liniar, from its flagship 70mm profile to the UK’s first PVCu PassivHaus accredited window and Resurgence, the UK’s first double-rebated PVCu flush sash window, Liniar seeks to design products that not only change industry but also the carbon footprints of properties they are installed in.
Chamfered, sculptured or flush sash designs in 70mm and 90mm options, Liniar’s windows meet all PAS24 and Secured by Design standards – even with reduced steel reinforcement requirements; they also conform to BS6375 Part 1 and 2 for weather performance, operation and strength characteristics. In other words – Liniar offers everything you could ever want in a window that performs as good as it looks.
