One of the key cornerstones to Liniar’s success is an ongoing, comprehensive programme of investment across the business. Regular annual investment between £5m – £10m from our USbased, NYSE-listed parent company, Quanex Building Products enables continued investment in infrastructure, product development, machinery, people, plant and sustainability.
This continual focus on investment throughout the business has translated into sustained growth, with a turnover increasing annually since the launch of our flagship profile, EnergyPlus, in 2008. This has allowed the company to create more than 500 jobs for the surrounding community.
Revolutionary product launches through cutting-edge product development has always been a huge part of Liniar’s philosophy. With an in-house, dedicated Design and Development team, two state-of-the-art 3D printers, a testing laboratory and a cycling testing robot – all of which are at our premises in Denby, Derbyshire – there’s no wonder the Liniar product range is considered one of the best uPVC ranges in the UK.
The investment in product design continually pays dividends, from winning the Queens Award for Enterprise in Innovation in 2017 for our ModLok™ bi-folding door technology, to UK-first products such as EnergyPlus90 – the UK’s first PVCu PassivHaus accredited system – as well as the UK’s first double-rebated flush sash PVCu window, Resurgence.
To ensure the products we manufacture are delivered to customers within our exacting, consistent high-quality standards, machinery is replaced with top of the line models and serviced to maintain
efficiency and quality standards. From the latest low-energy extrusion lines, the high-tech machinery within our huge mixing plant, our dedicated lamination machinery and more, our in-house maintenance team ensures all are maintained to a high standard and replaced when necessary. Our OEE is currently calculated at 89.1 (world class!) and rising.
Maintaining our 99% On Time, In Full delivery record is important to everyone in the business. To ensure that we continue to provide world-class service to our customers, we’ve invested in the development of a new IT barcode scanning programme within our warehouse. This not only makes picking customer orders much quicker, and cuts down on stocktake time, but also allows the logistics team to keep a close eye on the numbers for both stock and bought-in goods – making sure we provide exceptional service to our customers.
The latest fuel-efficient lorries travel all over the UK to deliver Liniar products, and customers can place orders using Liniar’s own online customer portal – LiniarConnect.
Investing in people is one of our key focuses across the business. Liniar’s comprehensive apprenticeship programme provides opportunities for the young people within our community but also provides existing staff with the ability to enhance their skills. Additionally, there are personal growth plans in place for many other team members, helping to increase their knowledge and skills.
We promote from within wherever possible, and Liniar offers many opportunities to those who wish to expand their career options. Liniar’s philosophy is to recruit for attitude and invest in training to develop skills – resulting in a proactive, positive team at all levels, and all focused on providing outstanding service to our customers now and for many years to come.
From the mid-1990s, Liniar has kept a keen focus on its impact to the environment, beginning with a zero operational wastage record thanks to developing a partially recycled decking range. Each year, the company’s
commitment to sustainability has remained and improved, meaning it still has zero scrap sent to landfill.
2007 brought the construction of our cutting-edge manufacturing facility, with a built-in recycling centre and underground water recycling capabilities. By 2018, Liniar had reduced its carbon emissions by a staggering 18,000 metric tonnes and that number continues to rise.
