Each year, Liniar’s US based parent company holds the Quanex Annual Stakeholder Awards to acknowledge and reward the efforts of its plants around the world. Leading UK PVCu systems company Liniar, a subsidiary of Quanex since 2015, is delighted to be awarded not one, but four awards for its 2021 performance.

As a business, Liniar’s number one operational priority is safety. It is therefore with immense pride that two of the awards recognised this. The Safety Recognition Award was presented to Liniar’s Secondary Operations and Avantek Machinery teams at its Alfreton site for its achievement in having no recordable accidents during the previous 12 months. The President’s Safety Award went to Liniar’s main site in Denby, Derbyshire and considered the significant safety improvements made between 2020-2021.

Martin Thurley, Group Managing Director commented,

“2021 presented many challenges including supply chain issues, raw material and labour shortages, as well as continuing to navigate the global pandemic, however at no point did we ever compromise on safety. Throughout the Quanex Group, we want everyone to work in a safe and healthy environment and the fact that Liniar has won two awards in this category is testament to the strong safety culture we are continually developing throughout the business.”

Liniar also scooped the performance based Quanex Appreciation Award, demonstrating the ability of its team members to pull together and continue to deliver excellent customer service during one of the most challenging years the industry has faced. Finally, the President’s Service Award was awarded to Supply Chain teams across the Quanex Group, including Liniar’s procurement department, led by Business Services Director Colin Sharpe.

Colin said, “I am so proud of my team. Their agility has been proven time and time again during the global supply chain issues and they continue to work extremely hard to mitigate the ongoing issues within our supply chain to ensure that as a business we can continue to deliver industry-leading customer service. Being recognised along with our procurement colleagues across the Quanex Group is fantastic and well deserved.”

The awards were presented by Quanex President and CEO George Wilson alongside the Quanex Strategy Council team on a recent trip to its visit European sites. Not known for resting on their laurels, the Liniar team has also been nominated for a record 12 National Fenestration Awards, including Martin Thurley shortlisted for Director of the Year, and Owen Attewell, Liniar’s Technical Support Apprentice, shortlisted for Young Person of the Year. Voting for the NFAs is now underway, with the winners announced in November 2022.

Martin concluded,

"I am extremely honoured and humbled to be nominated for ‘Director of the Year’ as is the entire team, who deserve the recognition. I am also enormously proud of Owen Attewell for his nomination for ‘Young Person of the Year’, along with the other categories Liniar has been shortlisted for. As a business we are all a part of something bigger.
