Liniar helps deliver an architect’s vision

A stone’s throw from the picturesque Blanchmans Farm Nature Reserve, the aptly named Cedarwood property is a contemporary masterpiece which blends perfectly into the surrounding landscape.

Finished in mid-2020, this beautiful Warlingham property was constructed by bespoke developer ‘Hursley’, located in Keston, Kent. Hursley Developments was established four years ago and is gaining a growing reputation for finishing projects to an exceptionally high standard – and Cedarwood was no different.

The initial concept design for Cedarwood featured ultra-modern slimline windows which provided a seamless transition to the natural cedar cladding – and this particular feature of the plan posed a challenge when specifying the products to be used in the build.

“The original concept from the planning architect featured very slim profile windows in order to achieve a contemporary finish. When we were looking at products to specify, we had to take into account not only the finished look but also the installed U-value, as well as making sure that the windows were practical for the future homeowner,” commented Toby.

“We could achieve the required look with aluminium windows, but when we looked into PVCu, they offered the energy efficiency that we needed. Additionally, with the Liniar flush sash profile, we were able to introduce openings as well as provide the practicality and ventilation required by the homeowner without compromising the contemporary look. We also chose to use cheek boards foiled to match the flush sash windows as opposed to using cedar cladding. They had to be set to the exact dimensions depending on whether the cedar was vertical or horizontal adjacent to them – but it provided the perfect finishing touch.Internal shot of a WinRem installation of the Liniar uPVC sliding patio door

“Our preferred local window fabricator, suggested the PVCu EnergyPlus flush sash casement window and the PVCu patio door by Liniar. The Liniar flush sash casement window design achieved everything we needed, from the slim lines to the opening mechanism, whilst also having exceptional thermal performance and being far more cost-effective than aluminium.”

Its six-chamber profile is designed to provide strength without needing additional steel reinforcement, making it incredibly easy to install. It’s ideal for a wide range of applications from modern and contemporary to heritage designs.

Toby continues: “We needed a window that would blend flawlessly, which is why we choose to have Liniar’s flush sash casements foiled with 7016 Anthracite Grey – it complements the natural cedarwood cladding perfectly.

“The finished project exceeded all of our expectations, and we couldn’t be more delighted with the finish, and the service!” Toby concludes.
