A beautiful location, a luxurious lodge and an ambitious idea – together they sound like the ingredients for a perfect holiday home project. Add a high quality product and an expert installer into the mix and you have the recipe to create a masterpiece.
Tattershall Lakes is one of the best holiday parks in Lincolnshire. Packed full of exciting activities for all the family to enjoy, it’s also the perfect location to explore the area and attractions on offer.
Located about 30 miles inland from Skegness and Mablethorpe, the park is right next door to Tattershall Castle and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight in Coningsby.
Dominated by lakes, the park is a haven for water sports enthusiasts with water skiing, jet skiing and wakeboarding among the activities available – there’s also some great fishing on offer as well as a full 18-hole golf course.
Tattershall Lakes has undergone a huge amount of development and expansion over the past six years under current owners Away Resorts, and boasts a lake-side beach, outdoor sports court, swimming pool, spa, gym, bars and a family diner.
So when the owners of a brand new lodge required a large, bespoke project to be installed that maintained the high aesthetic standards of the rest of the prestigious park, they had to choose the right company for the task.
GG Leisure Services Ltd, approved installer of the Liniar PVCu range, had fitted the verandah on their previous lodge, and after having done such an excellent job, building up a great relationship with the owners in the process, they were brought in again.
“We’d fitted the decking on their old lodge and they were very happy with the final job,” explains Graham Gale, Director of GG Leisure. “When they decided to remove that lodge and have a new one on the plot, they asked if we could adapt and re-fit the decking – which we were, of course, happy to do.”
“That original job also included installing steps down to a boat mooring which was a very nice touch – although it was pretty cold getting in that lake in the middle of December, waders or no waders!”
But this wasn’t going to be a case of just simply re-fitting the decking – the owners had plans for a much bigger project.
“They wanted a ‘skydeck’ – a rooftop terrace with a spiral staircase. We’d never done one before but the Liniar range is ideal for bespoke projects like this and we always enjoy a challenge. I got in touch with a fellow Liniar installer in the south of the country who had already installed a ‘skydeck’ and we took on some of his advice.
The galvanised steel spiral staircase had to be specially ordered from Italy, which took some time, but once we got started we managed to complete the whole project really quickly.
“Apart from the added issue of working on top of the lodge rather than at ground level, everything went smoothly. The Liniar products are very, very good. The tongue and groove design means it’s quick and easy to assemble and the quality is top notch. The finished article looks stunning – there’s a beautiful view from the roof and it’s created a fantastic area to relax in.”
Not only were the lodge owners highly impressed with the finished project, but so were the management team of Tattershall Lakes – with GG Leisure being asked to install decking on a further 36 plots situated on a new development, called Castle View, currently being developed on the park.
“We’ve been using Liniar for more than eight years now and we just keep getting busier and busier,” says Graham. “About 55% of all of the decking at Tattershall has been fitted by us, with that rising to 99% on new developments – and the work leads to more and more business coming our way.”
And with the outstanding results of GG Leisure’s first ‘skydeck’, it’s unlikely that it will be their last!
