After completing hundreds of projects over the last three decades to an exacting standard, AJS Window Installations of Smethwick, Birmingham has more than earned its reputation for delivering high-quality products and unrivalled customer service.
In 2019, AJS’ Managing Director Scott O’Sullivan was contacted by one of the company’s biggest clients, new build developer Kendrick Homes. The developer had a specific request for upcoming projects throughout the West Midlands.
“Kendrick Homes asked us to provide flush sash windows – but they needed them to have triple glazing,” comments Scott.
“As a long-time Liniar fabricator, we’ve been manufacturing standard Liniar flush sash windows for years, but these are only able to accommodate double glazing. We’d heard about Liniar’s recently-launched 80mm double-rebated flush sash window range, Resurgence and knew it could be triple glazed. We contacted our Regional Sales Director Ken Allen and asked for a sample to show the client – if it fitted the bill, we would be able to look at adding Resurgence to our range.
“Once we received the sample window and saw how excellent the quality of Resurgence was, we took it to Kendrick Homes – and they absolutely loved it. We knew with the constant stream of projects we work on for Kendrick Homes that this would be the perfect addition to our product range – and immediately got the ball rolling with Liniar to order the necessary tooling to begin fabricating Resurgence windows.”
Setting up for Resurgence
“Liniar reacted quickly when we put in our tooling request for Resurgence. Whilst the tooling up process was efficient and easy, we did have a few teething problems when learning the new fabrication process, as the double rebate means it’s the first of its kind in the UK,” comments Scott.
“From the four fabrication methods available, our preferred method for
Resurgence was mechanically jointed, to give an authentic finish. We were also confident in selecting this method, as the system had passed all testing on mechanical joints with flying colours.
“At first, the manufacturing process was much slower than we were accustomed to. However, with the help of Liniar’s Technical Support team, our manufacturing team was soon up to speed on the new fabrication method – and we’re now in full production, making more than 150 Resurgence frames per week!
“We’re happy to say that we’ve had zero issues when installing Resurgence. The installation process is identical to that of a standard Liniar 70mm casement window; it’s an exceptional product.”
The Projects
The first Kendrick Homes project to use Resurgence windows fabricated by AJS Window Installations Ltd are located in Coventry and Worcester. Both developments offer exclusive, high-end homes built to a high standard with sleek finishing touches.
“Kendrick Homes ordered the windows in the highly popular shade of Agate Grey on white. The customer was delighted with Resurgence because of its traditional appearance with the added benefit of exceptional energy efficiency.
“The finished projects are stunning. The customer is pleased with how the Resurgence windows have turned out and have ordered more for other projects currently in the works. We’re also working with a trade customer who wants to supply these revolutionary windows to the construction industry in the West Midlands,” comments Scott.
