As Spire Glass Managing Director, Sam Locke, explains “Securing planning permission meant specifying premium window and door systems which would meet requirements for material and design in keeping with strict guidelines.

“Having worked with leading Liniar fabricator TruFrame for over 10 years, we have access to wide range of their products, and I instantly recognised that Liniar’s 70mm flush PVCu system would be perfect in this conservation area. The system replicates traditional designs, while meeting modern performance standards for thermal efficiency and weather protection. 

“We had to submit technical cross sections, and sample windows for consideration. In areas like the New Forest, there’s a real emphasis on preserving historical charm, so every detail matters.”

Seamlessly Combining PVCu and Aluminium

Liniar’s 70mm flush system was specified across all 10 plots, paired with Liniar Alumina bi-fold doors at the rear and composite front doors. This combination provided the ideal balance between sleek, unobtrusive styling and modern performance.

 “The Alumina bi-fold doors added a premium touch to every property, including the smaller homes,” Sam continues.

“Liniar has designed their aluminium system to allow seamless integration between materials. Alumina’s sculptured frame matches their PVCu profile, and because Liniar finishes both the PVCu and aluminium systems in-house, colour matching across the development was perfect.

 “There was some early uncertainty around threshold heights, but the versatile choices offered by Alumina meant we had a wide range of options allowing us to easily accommodate the final specification.”
