The great(er) outdoors – enhancing outside spaces with Liniar

Liniar stands at the forefront of British manufacturing and design innovation, producing a wide range of products for the fenestration and construction markets. It’s also the biggest supplier of PVCu and composite decking to the UK’s holiday parks, thanks to the development and manufacture of its high quality, maintenance-free deckboards and balustrades. Over the years, the company has consistently delivered a suite of products to enhance homes, buildings and outside spaces, while demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability.

Mark Sims, Outdoor Range Sales Director, discusses the reasons customers choose Liniar’s PVCu outdoor range, which includes fencing, and piling alongside decking.

A sustainable, low-maintenance timber alternative

Mark explains, “Due to its durability and resistance to rot, PVCu has emerged as a popular alternative to traditional timber for outdoor products. Taking advantage of the robust performance PVCu offers and Liniar’s long-established expertise in extrusion, we have created a wide range of stylish products for improving the home and garden.

“We have been manufacturing our own decking since 1999, and the current range comprises two existing deckboard styles, with a brand-new, laminated deckboard ready to be showcased at the 2023 Great Holiday Home Show in Harrogate this September.

SwitchBoard decking offers a versatile decking solution with a reversible design, allowing you to choose between woodgrain and grooved finishes for the creation of bespoke designs. Its 37mm thick boards (one of the thickest on the market) ensure durability, resistance to warping and bending.

“SwitchBoard Ultra is a premium, 3D embossed deckboard with a solid recycled core, and is also fully reversible. Premium capping technology has been used to ensure Switchboard Ultra’s core is protected from damp, decay and mould.

“The incorporation of recycled materials, combined with the fact that both products are fully-recyclable at the end of their useful life means they deliver a genuinely sustainable alternative to timber.

“The new laminated deckboard will be an exciting launch for Liniar and we’re pleased to give customers a sneak preview at the Great Holiday Home show this year!”

The complete package

Mark continues: “With a nationwide network of installers, Liniar has emerged as the largest manufacturer of decking supplied to the UK holiday park market, with customers including Haven Holidays (Bourne Leisure) and Away Resorts.

“The exceptional quality and attractive appearance of our decking system have certainly contributed to Liniar’s success in becoming the market leader in the holiday park sector, but there are other contributing factors too.

“Ordering is easy; all decks can be supplied in kit form with everything required for installation. Liniar’s Secondary Ops team, headed by Jack Mayfield, has a wealth of industry experience and product knowledge. The team provides exceptional technical support to our customers, and can help with important decisions, for example, deciding which of our available sub-frames will be best for your project and where to situate ramps or steps.

“In addition, while Liniar’s depth of product range means customers can choose a deckboard which suits them best, our breadth of range means we can offer complementary products for whole project solutions.

“Holiday Park customers, for instance, often use Liniar’s PVCu fencing in combination with our decking to create adjoining private outdoor enclosures that maximise a holiday home’s functionality. This is ideal for privacy screens around luxury features such as hot tubs. We also see products from our roofline range used to tie projects together, such as shiplap cladding giving a striking finish to a home’s exterior.

“What’s great for our customers is that Liniar’s entire product range is perfectly colour-matched, everything can be ordered in one place, and they have a single point of contact for our Customer Relations, Technical, Design & Development and Sales teams when they require assistance and advice.”

Innovative retention solutions

Liniar’s outdoor range also includes piling, which has become popular with holiday parks featuring lakes and ponds. With PVCu offering a cost-effective alternative to steel or concrete and being much more robust than timber, especially when submerged in water over a prolonged period, it’s ideal for strengthening banks and helping with retention.

Describing some of its uses, Mark states, “Plastic piling from Liniar has been successfully implemented in projects such as bank retention, flood prevention, and wildlife restoration, with customers including the National Trust and the Wildlife Trust.

“Our range is made from 100% recycled PVCu meaning it’s environmentally friendly, while the material also makes it lighter to carry, and easier to install by hand without the need for heavy machinery.

Looking to the future

Mark concludes, “Liniar is extremely proud of its established reputation as a leading UK PVCu systems company. Not only do we have an extensive range of great products, but we’re also known for our exceptional customer service and reliability (with an On Time, In Full delivery performance of over 99%).

“However, we’re not resting on our laurels – we’re always looking for ways to improve and grow the business by helping customers. We’ve got some interesting developments in the pipeline such as our previously mentioned laminated deckboards, and an exciting garden room range that will also be shown to the public for the first time during the Great Holiday Home Show.

“With the backing of parent company Quanex, we have the resources to realise the innovative ideas coming from our amazing Design and Development team, and it’s an exciting time to be a member of the Liniar family.”
